Have a happy spring break!
We have made it through two weeks of online learning. Thank you so much for all of your hard work! Today is a great day to check for any missing assignments and turn them in. There is no requirement to do assignments over break, but if you have fallen behind you might want to use some of the break to catch up. I will be checking my email for make-up work throughout the week. Please look for graded work posted at Jupiter and then read the comments on your Google Docs. This week is a great time to read for fun and to get outside for sunshine and fresh air! I will be available today between 12:00-2:00 to answer email. Enjoy the time off! I will be posting assignments again on Monday, April 6. You and your family are always in my prayers! Hail Mary, full of Grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Today, nine months before Christmas, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. Jesus came to save us by first dwelling among us as a baby in Mary's womb. Let us pray that we all have the love and courage that Mary did, and that we, too, can say yes to whatever God asks us to do. I'll be available again today between 12:00-2:00 to answer emailed questions. Please check in at Jupiter for grades and missing work. When you see a grade posted, please read the feedback I've given you on your Google Docs assignments. This will help you make any needed improvements on future assignments. Literature Please finish reading Farewell to Manzanar, Ch. 14-16, and answer the six study guide questions. Details and links for these are in the Monday, March 23, blog post. Scroll down for these. This is due today at 7:00 PM. Please make sure to provide quoted text evidence and to cite your evidence with page numbers. If you have already submitted your work and did not do this, go back now and put in quotes and page numbers. You don't need to share the document with me again. All changes will show up when I open the document. Writing Make sure you have watched the video on participles and participial phrases and then completed IXL GG.6. Details and links are in the Monday, March 23, blog post. This work is due today by 7:00 PM. We will continue with this sentence-composing tool after spring break, so you will need this background to help you with the exercises, quizzes, and creative writing paragraph. One of the best things you can do to keep growing in your reading and writing skills right now is to read a couple of good books just for yourself. Maybe you have a few on your shelf, or you can order a couple for your Nook or Kindle. Maybe you can order some books for curbside pickup at our Barnes and Noble. (Be sure to call the store to see if they are still doing this: 317-859-8089.) Also, don't forget that you can buy books when you go to Meijer and Kroger. It would be great to talk about these when we get back to school together. Please know that you and your families are in my prayers each day! Welcome back to class!
Please keep working on the lessons posted yesterday. Scroll down to the Class Update for Monday, March 23, to find details and links to online work. Also, please keep checking for graded work at Jupiter and then read the comments on your graded Google Docs throughout this week. I will be available today for emailed questions from 12:00-2:00. Literature Keep reading Farewell to Manzanar, Chapters 14-16, and answer study guide questions #1-6 in a new Google Doc to be shared with me. This is due tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25, by 7:00 PM. Writing Be sure to watch the nine-minute video instruction on participles and participial phrases. Complete IXL GG.6 to practice identifying participles and the words they modify. This is due tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25, by 7:00 PM. Check in here again tomorrow for the next update. You and your family are in my prayers every day. Take care!
