Students worked in teams to begin designing and building this sphere. They were given a set of templates and images but no written instructions. Together, they estimated the amount of materials needed and the overall size of the finished product. As part of their mission, each team began to write the step-by-step process as they figured it out. On our next STEM Day, students will complete construction and display their finished spheres.
Each team member took on a role as recorder, researcher, designer, or master builder. Next, teams examined the artifacts, consulted, measured the templates, and selected their colors.
Making Progress
Teams began to share the tasks and create the components of their project. Students engaged in trouble-shooting due to time constraints. Materials were then organized and stored until the next STEM Day.
