I hope everyone is enjoying these last few days of summer vacation!
Please make sure to finish your Summer Reading book by the first day of school, Tuesday, August 6. We will use our first class periods together to discuss the books. During the second week of school, you will have an opportunity to write about your book and to share your thoughts about what you have read. Here are some additional things to think about as you finish your summer reading: 1. Do you admire the main character? Why or why not? 2. Which historical figures are present in the book? What role(s) do they play? 3. Which historical details interest you the most? Why? 4. What has this book taught you about the American Revolutionary War? I"m looking forward to our new year together! This famous painting by William B. T. Trego is entitled The March to Valley Forge. It depicts the harsh conditions of the soldiers who fought for American Independence during that difficult Pennsylvania winter of 1777-1778. These brave men sacrificed much to win the freedom we enjoy today.
Now is the time to make sure you are working on your summer reading. Use the link on our website banner to find the reading list and to choose a book if you haven't already started one. Copies are available at the public library as well as Barnes & Noble and Amazon. As you read, please consider the following: 1. What is the setting? Where and when is the action taking place? 2. Who are the main characters? Who is the hero of the story and why? 3. What is the theme or main idea of the book? Please have your book completed by the first day of school on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. I'm looking forward to our year together! |

A Classroom Prayer
Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, enter into my mind and heart. Give me the gift of knowledge and the grace to use it wisely. Help me in all my endeavors. Give me perseverance and fortitude. Help my memory, that I may remember what I learn and recall it when necessary. Guide me in the classroom.
O Jesus, You who are the Way, the Truth, and the Life, let me not be deceived by false teaching. Our Lady of Good Studies, pray for me. Amen. Mary, Undoer of Knots,
Pray for Us! A Prayer to Christ, the Divine Teacher
O source of all Wisdom, Christ the Teacher,
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Teach us to embrace the truths You have revealed to Your Church. Fill our souls with Your Grace that we may love God above all and our neighbors as ourselves. Christ Jesus, friend and Teacher most patient, bless us and teach us. O Light of the world, teach us always to follow You that we should not walk in darkness, but have forever the Light of Life! Amen. Archives
