1. We will begin class by returning the graded literary analysis essays for our novel Tunes for Bears to Dance To. Read the comments and look at the feedback on the rubric. Open your document and make all red-ink (or blue-ink) corrections as well as any other needed changes. You do not need to share the document with me again. 2. Open the "Essay Revision & Reflection 3-18-21" survey at Google Forms. This can be accessed at the Writing Resources/Grammar Quizzes tab (Version A) on this website and at the link below. Answer the two questions on the survey with your very best writing skills. 3. Complete your argumentative essay over the public library. Consider the feedback on your literary analysis essay and make any needed changes. Check your works cited page entries against the sample I have created at the link below. List only those sources you have actually quoted, paraphrased, or referred to in the body of your essay. 4. When you are confident that you have a strong argumentative essay meeting all the requirements, please share the document with me. Label it with your last name and the phrase "Public Library Argument." 5. If time allows, work on the next IXL assignment, O.2 and O.7. These will be due after spring break. Literature Assignment (Gold Day):
1. We will begin class today by turning in the completed Source Chart for the public library argument. 2. We will also take Vocabulary Quiz #8. This is a multiple choice, cumulative vocabulary quiz in Google Forms. If you are working from home, please be prepared to take this quiz the first day you return to in-person learning. 3. Most of the class period will be devoted to reading and responding to an article on the background of the Holocaust as we prepare to read the play The Diary of Anne Frank. The article can be found at Actively Learn. Please read the article carefully and use the links and sidebar notes throughout. Answer all multiple choice and short response questions. 1. Today, we are working in small groups to finish reading and analyzing the source packet for the public library argument. If you are working from home, please read all Sources A-H and fill in your Source Chart. This is due by the beginning of your literature class tomorrow. Please be sure to check your source chart against the sample I linked to in yesterday's blog post. 2. Please study for tomorrow's vocabulary quiz. The quiz will focus on this week's words from the public library argument source packet. A few words and definitions on the quiz will be from earlier words. You need to review all of the words studied so far. If you are working from home, please email me throughout the school day with your questions as needed. Thank you!
