Steinbeck's goal was to re-acquaint himself with the American landscape and the American spirit. He wrote about this trip in his book Travels with Charley. Our next reading assignment will be an excerpt from this book in which Steinbeck shares his experiences in the Badlands. That excerpt is the source for today's Verbals Review Activity #2. Writing Lesson (Maroon Day): Today we will have a Google Meet class to discuss the Verbals Review Activity completed yesterday. Grades have been posted in Jupiter. Please take a look at your score and review your handouts over participles, gerunds, and infinitives. After our discussion, you will have the opportunity to complete Verbals Review Activity #2. This will be due for points at the end of your class block today. Please do not work on it until you've had a chance to go over the concepts in our Google Meet today. From 1563-1573 , Italian Artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo created a series of paintings of the four seasons. The paintings represent each season in a profile portrait made up of fruit, vegetables, and plants relevant to that season. Depicted here are winter on the left and fall on the right. Literature Assignment (Gold Day): 1. We are borrowing some literature class time today to review verbals. Please read all feedback on the graded creative writing paragraphs for participial phrases, gerund phrases, and infinitive phrases. 2. Using your handouts, complete the Verbals Review Activity at the link below. You may consult your notes, but please do the work on your own. This is due for points by the end of your ELA class block today. Be ready to discuss the reasons for your answers during our Google Meet class on Friday, December 11. The activity uses the essay "Why Leaves Turn Color in the Fall" by Diane Ackerman. 3. The Google Meet Invitation for 12-11-20 went out yesterday around noon.
