Welcome back to class!
Literature Assignments: Today, we start a new thematic unit entitled, "Nature: Its Dangers and Its Delights." We will be reading selected short stories and poems that highlight the beauty and the mystery of nature. We can look all around us, especially now in the month of May, and appreciate the blooming flowers, blue skies, and budding trees. We feel the warmer temperatures and are grateful for spring and the summer to come. We also know, though, that sometimes the forces of nature are beyond our control and can seem quite overwhelming. Please sign in to Actively Learn and choose the classic short story, "Three Skeleton Key." Read the story and answer the questions. As always, please provide text evidence and detailed analysis for the short-answer questions. The story begins with a video that was provided by the Actively Learn company. You may skip that video. This is due today, Monday, May 4, by 7:00 PM. Writing Assignment: We have learned 10 sentence-composing tools this semester. Our goal has been to create more robust sentences. To reinforce what we have learned, please watch the two short videos below about misplaced and dangling modifiers. Then, complete 9th-grade IXL FF.2 and FF.3. You should recognize that most of the modifiers are participial phrases. This is due today, Monday, May 4, by 7:00 PM. As always, I will be available today from 12:00-2:00 for emailed questions. Please remember that all missing assignments are due no later than May 15, 2020! Comments are closed.

A Classroom Prayer
Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, enter into my mind and heart. Give me the gift of knowledge and the grace to use it wisely. Help me in all my endeavors. Give me perseverance and fortitude. Help my memory, that I may remember what I learn and recall it when necessary. Guide me in the classroom.
O Jesus, You who are the Way, the Truth, and the Life, let me not be deceived by false teaching. Our Lady of Good Studies, pray for me. Amen. Mary, Undoer of Knots,
Pray for Us! A Prayer to Christ, the Divine Teacher
O source of all Wisdom, Christ the Teacher,
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Teach us to embrace the truths You have revealed to Your Church. Fill our souls with Your Grace that we may love God above all and our neighbors as ourselves. Christ Jesus, friend and Teacher most patient, bless us and teach us. O Light of the world, teach us always to follow You that we should not walk in darkness, but have forever the Light of Life! Amen. Archives
