Literature Assignment for eLearning: 1. Today we are discussing "The Tell-Tale Heart" study guide #1-9. (See 10-30-20 blog post for link to study guide if needed.) Because this is a great American classic, there are many good resources available. After you have answered the questions on your own, watch the short lecture linked below (11 minutes). The speaker covers the same main points that we will cover in our class discussion. You should take notes and revise your study guide answers as needed. 2. After discussing the story, we will watch a short animated film adaptation of it. Our goal is to analyze the visual elements and appreciate how they symbolize important ideas in the story. Watch the film, fill in the chart, and answer question #2 on the second page. 3. Finally, watch the clip of the TV show The Simpsons, which provides a parody of Poe's short story. Be sure to read the definitions of "parody" and "satire" on your guide. Answer question #3 with a well-developed paragraph. These assignments are due by Thursday, November 5, 10:00 AM. You may turn in your work in the following ways: 1. Answer all questions in a Google Doc and share it with me. Label your document with your last name and "The Tell-Tale Heart." 2. Answer all questions on paper copies of the study guide and film guide. You can scan the pages and email or take a close-up picture of each page and email those. If you take a picture, please make sure I can read the writing on the pages. Remember: 1. Vocabulary Quiz tomorrow, Wednesday, November 4. Look for the link at tomorrow's blog post. 2. Independent Reading Speech and Slides due on Tuesday, November 10. Share the slide show with me on that day. You may present when you return to school. 3. Order the novel Tunes for Bears to Dance To now if you want your own copy. Today, we used our Writing class to revise two previous compositions and to finish the study guide for "The Tell-Tale Heart." Students worked independently and had the opportunity to seek individual help with their assignments. Any student who is now working at home may email me with questions throughout the day. Pray for Us! A Prayer to Christ, the Divine Teacher
O source of all Wisdom, Christ the Teacher,
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Teach us to embrace the truths You have revealed to Your Church. Fill our souls with Your Grace that we may love God above all and our neighbors as ourselves. Christ Jesus, friend and Teacher most patient, bless us and teach us. O Light of the world, teach us always to follow You that we should not walk in darkness, but have forever the Light of Life! Amen. Archives
