Our year is off to a great start! Please make sure to update your Jupiter passwords and log-ins for this year. All students should consult Jupiter frequently to check for assignments, grades, and any missing work. Writing Assignment We have started our first essay of the year. Students are writing a literary analysis essay about the hero and the villain of their summer reading book. All books are set during the American Revolution. The essay topic, sample outline, and rubric are available at the link below. We will work on the essay during class on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The essay is due on Friday, August 13. Literature Assignment Today, we reviewed the concepts of denotation, connotation, and diction. Students worked on a vocabulary chart for their summer reading book. This not only reinforced these three concepts, but also provided an opportunity to review the book and find ideas for the literary analysis essay assigned in writing class. This chart is due at the beginning of literature class on Wednesday, August 11. Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!
Please bookmark this website on your Chromebook. We will use the resources here throughout the year. Summer reading books should be completed by the first day of school. If possible, bring your book with you to Writing and Literature classes. We will start the week with group activities and an essay assignment about our books. You may email me if you have any questions by using the link in the upper right corner of this screen. I'm looking forward to a great year together! |

A Classroom Prayer
Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, enter into my mind and heart. Give me the gift of knowledge and the grace to use it wisely. Help me in all my endeavors. Give me perseverance and fortitude. Help my memory, that I may remember what I learn and recall it when necessary. Guide me in the classroom.
O Jesus, You who are the Way, the Truth, and the Life, let me not be deceived by false teaching. Our Lady of Good Studies, pray for me. Amen. Mary, Undoer of Knots,
Pray for Us! A Prayer to Christ, the Divine Teacher
O source of all Wisdom, Christ the Teacher,
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Teach us to embrace the truths You have revealed to Your Church. Fill our souls with Your Grace that we may love God above all and our neighbors as ourselves. Christ Jesus, friend and Teacher most patient, bless us and teach us. O Light of the world, teach us always to follow You that we should not walk in darkness, but have forever the Light of Life! Amen. Archives
